About this game
DirtBound is a rally game seen from above, built with low-poly 3D cars, forests and spectators. In Stage mode you choose a length (2 km, 5 km, 10 km or endless), a landscape and one of four themes, and the game generates a gravel road for you to drive against the clock. Leaving the road adds five seconds to your time. Circuit mode offers timed laps against the record holder's ghost.
On a computer you drive with W, A, S and D, use Space for the handbrake and C to change the view. On a phone you put a finger down and slide it towards where you want to go, and the car accelerates by itself. Signing in with Google is optional; the menu also has multiplayer and experimental modes, which HeapPlay did not try.
The game is made by two people, Luke Baffait (art direction, interface, 3D, development) and Victor Boutros (server, infrastructure, development), and is free on its own website. Its credits name the third-party models, music and code it builds on.
